A Few Words About Us

Our Story

It all began when I was 13, the day I unwrapped my first guitar—a beat-up secondhand Fender Stratocaster, a gift from my parents who probably didn’t realize they were sparking a lifelong obsession. From the moment I strummed that first shaky chord, I was hooked. Music wasn’t just sound; it was a whole world I wanted to live in. Growing up in the vibrant, chaotic 1980s, I was surrounded by rhythm and beats. My dad, a DJ spinning vinyl at local clubs, filled our house with the pulsing sounds of disco, funk, and early hip-hop. His record collection was my playground, and I’d spend hours flipping through sleeves, soaking in everything from Michael Jackson to Kraftwerk.

By my teens, I was skateboarding through the streets with my crew, a gang of misfits who blasted heavy metal from boomboxes—Metallica, Slayer, Iron Maiden. Those gritty riffs and pounding drums became the soundtrack to our ollies and grinds. That mix of influences—my dad’s eclectic DJ sets and my friends’ headbanging anthems—shaped my love for music’s diversity. I wasn’t just a listener; I wanted to understand how it all worked, from the chords to the production magic behind the tracks.

As I grew older, I dove deeper. I taught myself guitar, spending late nights fumbling through Nirvana tabs and attempting Metallica solos. I started tinkering with basic recording software, layering tracks in my bedroom, dreaming of creating something that could move people the way music moved me. By my 20s, I was gigging in local bands, soaking up knowledge about sound engineering, and geeking out over music theory. I’d stay up debating the genius of Quincy Jones’ production or the raw energy of punk with anyone who’d listen.

Fast forward to today, and that passion has evolved into Sweet Studios. Launched in 2025, Sweet Studios (sweetstudios.co.uk) is the culmination of decades of love for music in all its forms. It’s a platform dedicated to sharing knowledge, celebrating creativity, and connecting music lovers. From in-depth guides on music theory to tips on home recording, artist spotlights, and the latest gear reviews, Sweet Studios is here to inform and inspire. Whether you’re a bedroom producer, a seasoned musician, or just someone who lives for a great playlist, this is your space. My dad’s still spinning records, my old skate crew still blasts metal, and I’m still that kid with a guitar, chasing the next sound. Welcome to Sweet Studios—let’s make music together.

Well, here's to another adventure

The idea of this site is to engage with like minded musicians who just love music for what it is. I’m not classically trained, what I know I taught myself and from many years of watching and playing with friends. This is not a technical site, this site is for the layman of music. I don’t profess to be anything more than what I am, and that’s an enthusiast, not gifted or anal about how things should be. I like what I like and the aim is to get the basic guitar player/song writer, writing songs an recording music for the sincere joy of it. Cheers
